Our Vice Presidents have been busy coming up with a great schedule for the coming year.

Our meetings will start promptly at 9:30 am. Please contact us if you need to use the nursery - there are forms that need to be filled out in advance of the first meeting. Our first program, in the back-to-school tradition, will be a "What I did on my Summer Vacation" sharing session.

or anything else you want to share!
We will also have a brief presentation by Helen Mahylis regarding the Damascus Crop (Communities Responding to Overcome Hunger) Walk on October 11, 2009.

Relay for Life completed /Scholarship results are in!!

This year, Damascus Y-Women participated in the Damascus Relay for Life with a team of 15 led by team captain Becky Keyser. We are proud to report that we were able to raise over $6,800.00. Our " General Store" booth set up on our designated site won first prize!

We are proud to announce that two $1,000.00 Scholarships have been awarded this year. Both senior girls attend Damascus High School and were recognized at the Damascua Awards Night on May 20th.

Damascus Y-Women have one regular meeting left and the our "End of Year" tea (at Brick Ridge Inn in Mt Airy) before we take our summer break. We will start refreshed in the fall ready to begin a new year of friendship, fellowship and service to our community.

The Damascus Y-Women have moved! We are now meeting at St. Anne's Episcopal Church at 25100 Ridge Road in the Parish Hall. The Nursery is located down stairs.

The Damascus Y-Women, a program of the National Capital YWCA, announces its scholarship program for the 2008-2009 academic year. This year the women’s civic organization will award two $1000 scholarships between applicants from Damascus High School, Gaithersburg High School and Clarksburg High School. The scholarships will be approved by the Damascus Y-Women’s review committee and will be awarded to the DHS, GHS or CHS graduating female who excels in the area of community service.
Applications are available from the high school career center or by emailing Lmmandkids@hotmail.com to request an application.

Remember: Deadline for application is April 20, 2009.
